For the Environmental Charter Schools in Gardena, CA, OGD created a seasonal architectural installation supported by the Cuningham Group Trust to celebrate the school’s relocation to a historic early 1900s church and schoolhouse. Upcycled movie sets donated by Intrinsic Studios were transformed into an experiential pathway, which students helped paint and assemble, serving as both a backdrop for a high school art exhibition and a hands-on lesson in sustainability. The installation anchored the annual ‘Festival of Lights,’ engaging the community while teaching the value of upcycling, low-cost construction strategies, and collaborative design—turning an abandoned building into a symbol of environmental education and community rebirth.
